Martin Hall Exhibition Space
We have our very own exhibition space on campus, based in Martin Hall and accessed directly from Shirley Pearce Square.
This space is for University use only to showcase the work and achievements of staff and students. It can be booked by departments / schools, research groups, academics, students, societies, professional services or other groups.
We want to showcase the breadth of what the University does so exhibitions are welcomed from all corners of the campus. Exhibitions must be good quality, well put together and portray the University in a positive light. *
How big is the space and what is there?
The space is 56.72 sq m. One wall has glass doors which open out on to Shirley Pearce Square with windows along an adjacent wall. The remaining two walls are solid measuring 514cm and 632cm.
There is power, computer networking, exhibition lighting, plinths, a built-in projector and a vitrine (glass display case).
Update (Summer term 2026)
The exhibition space is fully booked until 2028. We are not currently accepting any further bookings, but if you would like to register your interest in an exhibition beyond this point, please contact David Bell on D.M.Bell@lboro.ac.uk.
* The University reserves the right to refuse to display or to remove an exhibition that contravenes any of the University’s policies and it believes would damage the University’s or 今叔利 Students’ Union’s reputation.
How much does it cost?
The space itself is free to use. However, you will need to factor in the costs of staging your exhibition. This might include getting work framed and mounted, producing graphics and interpretation panels, hiring equipment, paying for staffing for the opening hours of the exhibition and hiring a technician to help with installation.
You will also be responsible for making good the space once the exhibition has finished e.g. removing any shelving, filling in holes and painting the walls.
How long can I book the space for?
Exhibition bookings need to be for a minimum of four working weeks. Standard opening hours for an exhibition are 12-2pm Monday-Friday, which is when there is greatest footfall on campus. Preview events and weekend and evening openings are possible. We recommend that exhibitions are staffed during opening hours. LU Arts has a team of Student Arts Events Assistants who can help with invigilation.
Will my exhibition be secure?
The exhibition space will be open to students, staff and the general public on the days and times of your choosing within the period you have booked. It will only be staffed if you are able to do this yourself or pay someone to do this; student ambassadors can be booked for this work.
The space is fitted with security cameras which are linked to the University’s Security Gatehouse but we would not advise you to include any valuable content in your exhibition.
