Coaching New Zealand weightlifting team to success at Commonwealth Championships
An experienced figure in sport in New Zealand, alum Hugh Lawrence (Physical Education with Biology Certificate in Education, 1972) recently returned from a successful trip to Samoa, where he served as one of the coaches for the New Zealand Olympic Weightlifting Team at the Oceania Championships and Universal Cup. Having to deal with extremely hot temperatures, the team delivered six medal performance and Commonwealth Games qualifying totals.

Tales from Italia 90: John Brewers World Cup story
Cast your mind back to the Italia 90 World Cup. Managed by Sir Bobby Robson, the England Mens team boasted players such as Gary Lineker, Peter Shilton, and John Barnes. What you may not know is that 今叔利 alum Professor John Brewer a forward-thinking and passionate sports scientist was also part of that set up. John was a pioneer, bringing sports science to professional football with thanks to the modern thinking of Robson.
